6 Unique + Creative Senior Shoot Ideas

Have you been trying to find inspiration for your senior shoot but keep running into the same four golden hour field photos? If your goal is to have unique senior pictures it can be really hard to find inspiration when everything starts to look the same. I want to help you create something totally authentic, true-to-you, and creative for your senior photo session!

When planning shoots with my own seniors, I focus on this a lot! We dig deep on what makes them unique, what’s been special about their high school experience, and how to make their shoot completely true to their personality!

I’ve compiled this list of creative and unique senior picture ideas for your own senior shoot. When making this list I had a few things in mind. I wanted to find visually interesting ideas that seniors can really make their own depending on their personality! I’m hoping that this will spark some creativity and add some diversity to senior shoots this year.

  1. Studio location

I feel like studio shoots are totally underrated when it comes to senior photos. The creative possibilities are endless! You have control over every aspect of the shoot including, backdrop color, lighting, props, etc. I’m making it my mission this year to make studio shoots cool again!!

2. Monochromatic outfits

There’s something so clean and pleasant about a good monochromatic outfit. It adds such a modern feel to the photos and makes you look stylish as hell! Plus you can still stay true to your own style, whether that’s on the casual or dressy side!

3. Glossy makeup

I’m obsessssed with this trend! It’s soft and colorful and that’s soo my vibe! I highly recommend hiring a trusted makeup artist to guarantee that it’s going to turn out how you want it to. This adds such a cool and fun vibe to your photos!!

4. Light catching fabrics

I’m going to find any excuse to shoot with shiny fabrics this year because I’m obsessed!! Look for anything sequin, glitter, or velvet! It’s so fun and just adds another major creative element to your shoot without taking attention away from the portrait!

5. Arcade location

A super cool and unique location for your senior portraits! I love how much color plays a part and how moody all of the photos turn out. If you’re a #gamer, totally go for this!

6. Use a disco ball for a prop

Inspo from one of my favorite shoots I did last year! This was for a new year’s themed shoot but I think it can work in any setting really! It can make some really cool light patterns and just add an extra pop to any shoot! I think it looks best in the city for sure!!
